Brochier Technologies, Weaving Optical Fiber
Interview with Cédric Brochier,
Erasme, A web documentary on the textile industry of the Lyon Metropolis
The opportunities associated with the development of intelligent optical textile processes led Cédric Brochier to establish Brochier Technologies in 2007. The looms of the Brochier house were transformed to adapt to the specificities of weaving optical fiber. The company then developed a new technology for processing optical fiber, which allows for the uniform diffusion of light on the fabric’s surface.
The initial research focus of Brochier Technologies turned towards the field of health and therapeutic devices based on light. The team developed, among other things, a phototherapeutic device, the Bilicocoon®, the first illuminated sleeping bag facilitating the treatment of jaundice in newborns.
